About PALM

PALM was formed by a group of musicians and music lovers in Nov 2007 after the closure of several live music venues in Cairns, North Queensland. The group quickly established goals and strategies which led to to a highly successful public launch in February 2008. The launch was held at Cairns Hilton Hotel and attended by over 350 people including strong representation by the musicians of the region, and reps from QMusic and Arts Qld.

Restaurants, Cafes , Bars considering to provide live music / entertainment should heed the message from National Restaurant and Catering Association CEO, John Hart : " restaurants are becoming the ‘nations living room’ rather than the ‘nations dining room’ . There is a world-wide trend toward a merger of leisure, entertainment and dining."

Entertertainment Cairns website is announced  PALM proudly announces an important asset to the live music industry in the region: www.entertainmentcairns.com  designed to inform audiences about what's on and promote the performing artists and live music venues. Much interest and positive feedback so far and PALM hopes the site makes a real difference by creating interest from audiences - local and visitors to ATTEND gigs and help sustain and grow them. PALM Position Paper: Cairns Regional Council Cultural Plan Submission   A discussion paper with recommendations to make Cairns a more vibrant place for locals, visitors and tourists. It also suggests that well plan changes can contribute to a more resilient economy while enriching the cultural and social life in our community.  Posted 23rd Sept

4CA FM needs local artists for the Live & Local segment each Friday morning between 8 and 9am. It is an unplugged performance - the interview mics double as performance mics (1 for the vocal and the other angled at the Guitar).
